In meantime I've warned ppl on Linkedin, my 11K followers on Twitter and other networks. https://twitter.com/FabriceLeParc

Not only do you have security issues, pose major inconvenience to legit customers -

but you ask what NO ONE in their sane mind will give you that is an ID and a credit card given all the ID theft issues. Are you joking demanding BANK STATEMENTS as well?

NO web company ever asks for such info when an account supposedly was "compromised", I work in that industry.

So: just refund my credit remaining on that card, it will get to me, and I'm done with your unreliable and time-wasting service.

I'll get a number from another provider.

Malicious pop ups also occur while viewing their site. One for Adobe popped up.

You have to look at the web address, which is not a legit adobe site.

I agree, they are a band or left wing Swedish Socio-Communist Homosexuals and outright thieves, there are other companies on the internet that offer less but which actually give you what they offer, unlike Sonethieves, sorry, Sonetel! I was very *** trusting anything that comes from Sweden as they are at the same parasite level as the French.

They advertise a superior service but are totally un-professional and a waste of time. Their service is lousy and at the best they are incompetent, at the worst, just thieves.

They will waste your time and steal your money.

I will be doing everything possible to warn people about them and if possible destroy their already unsteady reputation.

Completely agree!

I bought 2 numbers for overseas. The service was terrible.

About 50% of the time I was getting either one-way connection (other party was hearing me, but I did not), error 500 or other. I called them and complained frequently. Because I authorized the auto payment, they have been taking $10 from my bank every 1-3 days. I did not check the charged rates believing in their advertisement.

Finally yesterday they cut me off in the middle of the conversation and blocked the Internet access to my account and then took another $10 from my bank. Now they are asking for the photocopy of my passport or photo ID.

My answer was: kiss my (_!_). I if they do not refund my money promptly and apologize for the interrupted business conversation, I will be filing internet fraud complain with our State Attorney Office, and Federal IC3 Office (www.ic3.gov).

I also blocked :(

I use virtual visa, and I dont have plastic card. So..

I can `t send photo. Crime crime... don't blame me, all this ***.

Virtual visa is much secure than a credit card. Because one-off ,)

In case a Sonetel account is blocked for suspected fraud, Sonetel does indeed ask for proof that the account holder actually owns the credit card used. This is done by sending a photo to Sonetel showing the front of the credit card, where all digits except the last 4 are covered.

The information cannot be used for misusing the credit card - but only to prove that credit card used is indeed in the hands of the account owner.

This is unfortunately a standard procedure among many VoIP companies due to the fact that there is a significant amount of fraud attempts against such companies.

Criminals use stolen credit cards (or phished Paypal accounts) to pay for calls to expensive destinations, where they get kick-back from the phone company. The VoIP company is stuck with the cost for the call when the Credit card company does a charge back of the money paid. I.e. the VoIP company has the complete risk.

The fraud prevention systems in place at Sonetel look at IP addresses, numbers called etc.

in order to identify probable fraudulent use - but sometimes these functions misfire, which creates suffering for a customer.

We are very sorry about this - and we naturally work hard to minimize such events by perfecting the systems - but due to the organized crime we are up against, we are forced to have quite stringent security functions in place.

I am sorry that this caused problems for you. Henrik Thome, CEO and Founder Sonetel

Yes, I totally agree with Mr. Thome, and plan to move from Freedom Voice to Sonetel within a few days.

So far, I have not found anyone that compares to Sonetel services and pricing structure; I'll take a chance.

Thanks for the explanation, Mr. Thome.
